Who we are:

McGuire/Publica is owned and operated by Steve McGuire and Lisa Grayson. They both have extensive experience in all aspects of communications, with an emphasis on nonprofits and health-care organizations. And since they have worked not only with but for nonprofit groups, they have a unique understanding of the needs of organizations like yours.

Steve and Lisa met when both worked at the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists in the early 1980s. One of their Bulletin issues won the prestigious "Elly" National Magazine Award for best single-topic issue from the American Society of Magazine Editors in 1986.

Lisa Grayson is the owner and creative director of Publica, a Chicago agency specializing in publications for nonprofits. She has an extensive before-and-after portfolio of design makeovers for nonprofit organizations.

Steve McGuire has directed the start-up, planning, and management of periodicals on science, health care, and public-policy issues. He is a versatile writer, editor, and project manager whose professional savvy has saved clients thousands of dollars.

Steve and Lisa's years of experience have created not only a roster of satisfied clients, but an impressive network of communications contacts. McGuire/Publica taps into that network to gather a custom staff for whatever your communications efforts require.
